SPRING – SUMMER 2017

IN A SYMBOLIC LOCATION, DAMIR DOMA CHARTS THE TIMELY CONVERGENCE OF HIS MENS AND WOMENSWEAR COLLECTIONS FOR SPRING SUMMER 2017. SHOWN IN TANDEM, THE INHERENT DUALITY OF HIS DESIGNS RISES TO THE FORE – ENFORCING A COMMON SENSUALITY THROUGH THE REBELLIOUS NUANCES OF ARTE POVERA AND ARTISANAL DEVICES.

DEPARTING FROM A PLANED, RIGID SILHOUETTE, THE COLLECTION NAVIGATES THE ECLECTIC DIVIDE BETWEEN SOBER TEXTILES AND SENSUAL TREATMENTS, RESULTING IN THE SOFTENING, PARTITIONING, AND ADORNMENT OF THE MALE AND FEMALE FORM.

IN SHADES OF OLIVE, OCHRE, ORANGE, INDIGO, BLACK, AND WHITE, WASHED AND COATED COTTONS MEET SILK GAZAR, SHRINK-PRINTED ‘BATIK’, SPOT-BLEACHED VISCOSES AND SELFSTRIPED LINEN JACQUARDS FOR A TEXTURAL RUB THAT SCALES UP AND DOWN THE GARMENTS.

PROPORTIONS ARE STRETCHED LONG AND SLIM. FIELD JACKETS COME BELTED HIGH AT THE RIBS WHILST SLIP DRESSES AND PAJAMA SHIRTS FALL LOOSE, TRIMMED WITH RUFFLES OF FRAYED GEORGETTE. SWATCHES OF DENIM ARE COLLAGED ACROSS BASQUE TOPS AND TUBE SHORTS, WHILST COLUMN SKIRTS, GILETS, AND OVERCOAT HEMS ARE SPLIT AND PIERCED WITH METAL RINGS. THAT SENSE OF DECONSTRUCTED LIGHTNESS IS ECHOED IN CUPRO FLAGS OR PATCHES APPLIED TO SHOULDERS, CUFFS, AND SLEEVES. AMONGST THEM, SCRIBBLED FLOWERS AND HANDWRITTEN MOTTOS EMERGE. NEVER FOR MONEY. ONLY FOR LOVE.

RING-PIERCED, DOUBLE BUCKLED BROGUES AND CUT-OUT STRAPPED SANDALS ARE CRAFTED IN STURDY, SUPPLE CALFSKIN WITH MATCHING PIERCED CHOKERS AND BELTS. THE NEW MYKITA DD ‘SIRU’ SUNGLASSES ARE LAUNCHED
